What is BS8418? BS8418:2003 is a code of practice for the installation and remote monitoring of detector activated CCTV systems. The document provides recommendations on best practice for the design, installation, commissioning and operation of detector activated CCTV systems. What does it mean? It means that if you install detector-activated CCTV systems that require a police response, you may need to dramatically change the way you design and/or install those systems. The aim of the code of practice is to minimise false alarm activations as was the case with the introduction of DD243 within the intruder alarm sector.
